Many of us bought our homes in these neighbourhoods for the larger lots, mature trees, closeness to nature, and peaceful streets. The current proposal connects our neighbourhoods directly to the new development with no transition or buffer zone between us and the hundreds of small lots that are characteristic of higher density neighbourhoods.
The newly proposed RS5 zoning will allow the developer to proceed to develop without a comprehensive plan for the parcel. Therefore, it’s possible that the final density of the parcel may be much higher than originally outlined in the proposal. Furthermore, this brand-new zoning could be reused all over Langford, perpetuating the problem.
